John Carroll
President
John Carroll has spent his entire career in the Equipment Valuation and Disposition business. His career began on the east coast, learning the Industrial auction business from the late great Tom Gagliardi Senior and eventually, becoming an Equipment Appraiser for Ernst & Young LLP in New York City. In 1996 John moved to Silicon Valley to broaden his equipment knowledge and to work for Koll-Dove, a nationally recognized technology equipment valuation and auction company. Koll-Dove eventually became DoveBid, where John spent 14 years helping the company become the world’s largest industrial auction company.
- For five consecutive years, served as a Senior Vice President with his disposition sales team of 50 being recognized as the company’s most profitable division.
- Instrumental in transitioning the brick and mortar company into a global leader by conducting the company's first ever Online Auction.
- Levi’s: procured and managed the closure of 15 manufacturing plants across the US and Mexico.
- Managed the disposition of hundreds of .com companies including Webvan, Napster, and [email protected].
- Contracted and implemented strategic long term disposition solutions for Pfizer, Merck, Brystol Myers Squibb, Intel, Sun Microsystems and Honeywell. Other notable clients include Sanmina, Seagate, Enron, Hewlett Packard, Toshiba, American Home Mortgage, Agilent, JDS Uniphase, Xerox among hundreds of others.
With a broad spectrum and hands-on experience in the specialized industry of auction sales, John founded Silicon Valley Disposition to provide more innovative, technology advanced and cost efficient disposition solutions to the century old business. With a foundation of being transparent in all aspects of the disposition process, John is directly involved in all aspects of the company's day-to-day activities and not afraid to get his hands dirty!
John is a graduate of The University of Rhode Island.
Timothy Stack
Chief Operating Officer
Tim Stack joined the Silicon Valley Disposition team in 2019. He is responsible for managing all operations of the company, including all Auctions, SAM and Customer Service. Prior to joining Silicon Valley Disposition, Tim served 21 years in the military, serving in both the Army and Air Force where he retired as a Master Sergeant. During this time he was awarded numerous citations including Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year. Tim also retired after 22 years in law enforcement, where he managed small units and large teams as a sergeant including state wide task force operations. During his time as an officer, he received awards including Patrol Officer of the Year.
Tim has over a decade of experience in managing teams and has a Master’s degree in Management and Organizational Leadership from the American Military University.
Kim Carroll Castaldo
Executive Vice President
Kim Castaldo has been advising and consulting Silicon Valley Disposition since 2010. She is responsible for business development with corporations worldwide, financial institutions, attorneys, private equity firms, and turnaround companies. Prior to joining Silicon Valley Disposition, Kim owned and operated Carroll & Company, a sports marketing event company that created and executed amateur sporting events throughout New England. Early on in her career, she earned the title of top sales person in New England for MCI Telecommunications for three years running.
Author of 2 cookbooks, Kim is a graduate of Villanova University.
Derek Patterson
SVP Business Development
Derek Patterson is Senior Vice President of sales at Silicon Valley Disposition and has worked with and successfully implemented disposition solutions for some of the largest companies in the world. He is focused on strategic accounts and managing long term relationships. After spending well over a decade selling strategic finance software to Fortune 500, private equity, and law firms, Derek now helps his clients sell their surplus capital assets efficiently. He has extensive knowledge valuing equipment, project managing, and coordinating asset sales with a customer-driven focus.
Derek is a graduate of Baylor University.
Steven Piletz
Chief Appraiser
Steven Piletz is a Senior Member of the American Society of Appraiser (ASA) since 1985 with a concentration in Machinery & Equipment (President, Connecticut Chapter 2003–2005 and 2011 to Present). Steve successfully completed the Society's mandatory Reaccreditation Program (valid through January 10, 2017). He is also a member of the American Arbitration Association's Panel of Arbitrators. Steve's machinery & equipment appraisal experience spans 30 plus years and includes founding and managing his own appraisal company, National Valuations since 1985. He was formally the Manager of Valuation Services at Hartford Steam Boiler and Vice President of Appraisals at Barclays American/Business Credit. Steve has extensive appraisal experience throughout the US & Canada in the following industries; Biotechnology, Semiconductor, Solar & Energy Plants, Electronic Test and Measurement, Surface Mount Technology, Print Surface Board, Information Technology, Medical Equipment, Textiles, Machine Tools, Chemicals, Plastics, Woodworking, Paper Plants, Electronics, Printing, Food Processing, Contractor's Equipment, as well as Plant Support & FF&E.
Steven is graduate of the University of New Hampshire.
Manuel Padilla
Marketing Director, Creative Director
Manuel Padilla has been with Silicon Valley Disposition since 2012. He has executed marketing strategies and designed the marketing materials for the largest disposition projects in the company’s history. A Silicon Valley native, his deep understanding of design thinking, graphic design, and front end development have allowed SVD to create innovative, effective marketing strategies that continue to grow SVD significantly on a monthly basis.
Manuel’s ability to design, code, and understand social media trends has given SVD the ability to create the most effective campaigns in-house for our clients—boosting the average number of auction registrants and sales per event as a result. Manuel is the lead designer and front end developer for Strategic Asset Manager (SAM), Techfootin, as well as Silicon Valley Disposition.
Manuel is a graduate of San José State University.
